Oh Way Out West, They Have a Name
perfect girls

Last night, over a pot of coq au vin and a bottle of vodka, I sat at my table and sang songs with my husband, Laurie Penny, Peter Beagle, Peter’s agent Connor, and Connor’s partner Terri. Peter and I sang Mariah together, from Paint Your Wagon.

That is a thing that happened in real life and not in a dream.

My life is often strange and impossible. I am so grateful for it.

That is awesome!

Once I had Cat Valente sleep in my dining room. My dog barked at her a lot then just up and sat on the bed with her.

They call the wind Maria! I love that song. Wish someone had recorded that particular perfomance. Can't decide whose books I like best - Valente's or Beagle's. Thanks for all the entertainment.

I am so glad this is a thing that happened. You have no idea how much.

I remember standing with Laurie on the steps of St Paul's singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow as a duet to the Occupy crowd.

We love Ms Penny...and her commie jacket. ;)

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! <333

This is the sort of moment that leads us all to dream of what life could be. Thank you. I needed it today.

You know Peter Beagle! I am so jealous. I think of him as one of the Elders: people who impart wisdom through story. I'd love to meet him.

Awesome, awesome people, all of you. :)

Wow. Do you ever wish you could have shown slides of how awesome things would be to your 13 year old self?
