It is, in a word, spectacular. I believe it's the strongest issue I've edited, with stories by tithenai , saladinahmed , and newcomer Pamela Taylor--with one of the best titles I've ever come across, along with wonderful poetry and an ancient Turkish fairy tale in the reprint column.
I don't think anyone who reads this issue can seriously argue that quotas are afoot and super evil, filling us with substandard work. This is a theme issue, and it is gorgeous. Not to mention we have a Canadian woman of Arab descent who is not a Muslim, an American-born man of Arab descent who is, an an American feminist Muslim who is not Arab--along with non-American voices and anonymous fairy tales. It is, in fact, an extremely diverse issue.
Please go check it out, and remember we survive by donations. I am extremely proud to have brought this into the world, proud of my authors, and proud to be able to set something positive and beautiful beside all the ugliness of the last few weeks.
