Deathless, finished October 11th, Cleveland, Ohio. Round about 6 pm.
And in a piece of symmetry bordering on the awesome, I finished it in the same Starbucks I started it in two years ago. the one with the wonderful chaise lounge that is so good for my back, near theferrett's house. Oh, circles.
Now the wedding, and picking up the pieces of my soul. Part of me thinks this is the best thing I've ever done. Part of me fears it's a mess. So, standard post-novel state. I will say that so much love went into this book, and it contains some of the best writing I've ever committed to paper. I think I broke my own heart several times over, writing it.
And because the universe is amazing, we got our wedding present from justbeast 's parents yesterday. I'm still reeling from it, and I can't believe it's happening.
They got us a honeymoon in St. Petersburg. Not the one in Florida, either. We get a week in Leningrad, the city I've been writing about, falling in love with from afar, imagining day in and day out. We'll see it; we'll walk there, on Gorokhovaya Street, where my Marya grew up. I can't believe it, and I'm so grateful. I'm so grateful for everything right now.
I have so many things I want to post about, so much that's happened, and I will start on that tomorrow. But tonight I'm gonna forget that I have a million more things to do in the next three weeks.
My body, of course, thinks it's a good time to get sick. But I shall fight the good fight of the lungs, and go out for vodka with my dear friends theferrett and zoethe , and toast to the thrice ninth kingdom, and Leningrad, and love.
