  • 01:01 @papertyger Except seriously you'd hate it after a weekend. I can't imagine anything funnier than an NY-love adjusting to our island. #

I Am Now a Citizen of SHED NATION

Oh my god, you guys!

Oh my god!

We came home from the wedding in NYC, laden with bisque supplies and happy to be back in our beloved Maine. mishamish  and babymonkey  met us at the ferry, and we all walked home in the twilight. We greeted the dogs. All was well.

And there was an antique typewriter sitting on my porch like it just happened by to borrow a cup of sugar.

"Go inside," they said. "That's the first clue."

So I race inside.

"Look in the dining room," they said.

I didn't see anything. I didn't know what to look for! I am bad at finding things. And then I glimpsed it--outside the dining room window, a warm glow out in the yard.

I gasped--like, actually gasped. It couldn't be!

I ran outside, down the steps, around the house, to the shed. Remember that shed? The one I posted about, and how it could maybe be made into an office someday? But would probably have to wait til after winter and who knows when anyone would have the time?

This greeted me as I rounded the edge of the house:

While we were gone, babymonkey  and mishamish  turned a dirty shed with four bunkbeds and a decade's worth of junk into this. It smells of rich, new pine and it's golden and warm and cozy and somehow bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. (Henceforward it shall be known as the Tardis, of course.)

Reader, I screamed. I teared up. I sat there with my mouth open for like ten minutes, just stunned. I can't believe they did this. I just can't believe it. I've wanted an outside office for years and years and now there is a straight up tiny house in my backyard and my friends made it for me! I can't wait to work in there! I actually hugged the whole building. After hugging babymonkey  and mishamish  and jumping up and down and laughing crazily and oh my god I have my little hobbit house and I'm gonna make books in there like whoa.

Life, tonight, out here in Maine as autumn is creeping in, is awesome.
