  • 11:48 Flash mobs are so weird. I can't even get my friends to agree on a good time for dinner. #
  • 15:16 CSI: NY: serial killers aren't like that! They don't make clever puzzles for NO REASON, just so you can make puns and do crosswords! #
  • 15:46 Made nachos last night: dublin cheddar, crumbled bacon, fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic, chipotle, drizzled w/ reduced balsamic vinegar. ZOMG. #

We Can't Be Sad Today! It's Steampunk Tales Day!

So awhile back I mentioned that I had written a steampunk story and that it would be out in the nebulous land known as "soon."

Well, soon is today!

The story is "The Anachronist's Cookbook," and it's part of Steampunk Tales Vol. I, which is a downloadable iPhone/iPod Touch app that you can buy here. It's gorgeously designed, the first made-for-iPhone downloadable anthology. (Other formats are hopefully coming.)

The story is my attempt to address in fictional form my many intellectual issues with steampunk. It follows one Jane Sallow, a pissed off 15 year old factory worker spreading her Anarcho-Marxist revolution among the shiny cogs of steampunk land. I'm quite pleased with it, and this is a great place for it, since it requires tech to be read, and dwells in an anthology, where it makes the most sense, poking at all the archetypes around it. Appropriately, this is a profit sharing venture, so the more people download it, the more the authors get paid.

If you can, please do check it out!
There is also work from jaylake, satyrblade, and gdfalksen.

The anthology is present on most known forms of social networks as well:
