Re: Racking memory files...

I appreciate that.

It's just that I don't see the Democrats trying to legislate our personal lives, and your example of people misunderstanding the law doesn't really prove to me that they are.

I honestly wish there were an equally extreme candidate on the left, just to move the window of conversation from which brand of ultra-right we're going to go with.

Re: Racking memory files...

Maybe it's because I don't have health insurance and wouldn't want to waste the money getting it that I see the mandating of personal lives. I stay healthy using natural products and pay my arm and a leg on payment plans on the rare occasion I injure myself, but the left wants me to buy insurance I can't afford if I'm to keep healthy the way I do now.

To me that IS mandating my personal choices.

I don't want to bother finding an extreme Democratic candidate to hold up, just suffice to say I don't agree with any lawmaker's policies enough to want to vote for them, whether they are right, left, or supposedly indifferent.

Re: Racking memory files...

And staying healthy using vitamins is the luxury of the young. Eventually supplements don't cut it.

I grew up Christian Scientist, a faith that encourages not buying insurance either for oneself or children and outright bans medical treatment of any kind.

Funny how a lot of people die suddenly that way. Including my grandmother and nearly me.

Re: Racking memory files...

I...I just don't think you having to buy health insurance holds a candle to me and millions of others not being able to choose when to have a baby, marry a woman, or speak freely. Not enough to vote Republican, pretty much ever.

Re: Racking memory files...

I agree. I'm not comparing the two. I have voted Republican previously, but will probably not vote at all this year because I agree that ALL those things are problems. Serious ones. And I am a woman, so I truly do not appreciate the things sweeping through the right regarding these things.

I think everyone should vote according to their conscience. I have yet to vote a party line, though when I was eighteen I registered Republican.

Re: Racking memory files...

If you really can't afford insurance, ACA will be providing subsidies, or for the really poor, Medicaid expansion. Probably cheaper than an arm and a leg.

In the Democratic primary there's Darcy Richardson who compares himself to Eugene McCarthy in 1968, who primaried LBJ and opened the race so RFK came in. ( darcy2012.com )

In the November election there's Jill Stein, liberal third party.
